| Travelers have long known the peace and security of this red-bricked building that has welcomed visitors for more than a century.A bustling new town in 1886, the community of Eureka Springs grew from a rough encampment to a popular traveling destination almost overnight.T Elmwood Clark had the foresight to build a three-story lodging structure so solid that it would ultimately survive numerous disastrous city fires. With an appreciation for authenticity, the owners of the Elmwood House delight guests with the history of the building. One of the features that have endured is the handsome red brick exterior, recently refurbished to enhance its original beauty. The brick was formed by local clay, and many clues to the original appearance of the Elmwood House are still intact, such as ornate railings, and brass hinge plates, locks and doorbell.
