| Located in Trail Dust Town, the "Museum of the Horse Soldier" possesses one of the finest private collections of original United States Cavalry artifacts, equipment and memorabilia to be found anywhere. This extensive collection represents the period in history from the Civil War through the end of the mounted Cavalry in 1942. Displays include uniforms, arms and accoutrements, military tack, artifacts, memorabilia and a diverse photographic and visual representation of the eras. The Museum of the Horse Soldier is home to "Cavalry Life in Bronze," a National touring exhibition of 30+ U.S. Cavalry bronze sculptures by noted Arizona sculptor Dan Bates. A historically important component of the Museum of the Horse is "Forts of the Southwest" displaying and identifying thousands of legally dug artifacts from 22 military posts and forts from throughout Arizona and New Mexico. The Museum of the Horse Soldier is especially proud of its' superlative collection of U.S. military saddles and tack displaying most every variation from Pre-Civil War through the end of the Horse Cavalry in 1942.
