| The Alaska Homestead Lodge is a remote, wilderness lodge with all the modern comforts of home. We offer four cozy and very comfortable bedrooms and four bathrooms. To make your stay more personal and to give your vacation a special touch, we limit the number of reservations we take. We do book larger groups for family reunions, weddings, special occasions and conferences. We love to spoil our guests with home-cooked meals, freshly caught salmon and halibut, fresh produce from our garden and homemade pies from just-picked berries. You are definitely in for a treat! Come and enjoy the many activities and the breath-taking view of the ocean, mountains and streams along with the wildlife in its natural setting.The Alaska Homestead Lodge was an original homestead from the early 1950's. Joe Munger came to Silver Salmon Creek with his brother and lived in a tent for a couple of years before building his first cabin. After Joe married Sally Crouse in 1957, he built a second room with a fireplace. The Munger's homesteaded 160 acres in Silver Salmon Creek in 1960. The Munger's also had a cabin on Chisik Island, along with three fishing sites. Both Joe and Sally fished in the summers, selling fish to local canneries. Joe had a trap line in the winter where he trapped beaver, wolverine, marten, fox, etc. The original homestead has been renovated into a rustic, beautiful lodge for guests to enjoy, along with the picturesque surroundings and adventurous, fun activities.
