| Construction of the Eagle River Motel began in 1983 and was completed in 1984. A complete renovation of the motel began in 2001 and continues into 2005. The renovation project includes new beds, carpet, televisions, paint, and photographs of Alaska by Alaskans in each room.The Eagle River Motel is perfectly located just 13 miles north of downtown Anchorage. Elmendorf Air Force Base and Fort Richardson separate Eagle River from the rest of Anchorage proper. The motel offers a clean, comfortable, and quiet place to rest halfway between the most popular destinations in the Denali National Park and Seward.The large rooms and amenities of the Eagle River Motel make extended stays comfortable for families and individuals. Locals and soldiers from Fort Richardson and Elmendorf Air Force Base will use the motel as temporary housing.
