Description
Experience the Unique Heritage of Cullman County: The Cullman County Museum is located in a replica of the original home of Col. John G. Cullman, founder of the city and county. It features eight rooms on the main floor filled with thousands of items related to the city's history. The Archaeological Room begins the Museum tour with displays of Indian artifacts hundreds of years old. The centerpiece here is a 7-foot tall carving of an Indian warrior from a sweet gum tree. There are many arrowheads and other Indian collectibles in the room. The Primitive Room carries the visitor into an era of turn-of-the-century tools used to carve a living out of the hilly landscape of Cullman County. Weather worn wooden rafters and walls taken from area barns include plows, lanterns, planes, household items, and other features of daily pioneer life.
