| Description |
| The house was built in 1906 by the Muckle family in whose hands it remained for almost a century until it was purchased by its current owner and completely renovated and modernized for use as a bed & breakfast.Every effort has been made to preserve the charm and historic integrity of the structure while providing every modern comfort. Architecturally, the house is of Victorian Neo-Classical design with significant details inspired by the arts and crafts movement which was in vogue in the early 20th century. The house features antiques and period furnishings, stained glass windows, works by artists and artisans with a connection to the area, and mementos of the history of both the home and the town. The Muckle House is located in an historic district (located on the National Register of Historic Places) where Magnolia Grove, a state owned property open to the public, and the many other antebellum and Victorian homes and churches are as charming today as they were a century ago. Nearby in Newbern is the nationally acclaimed Auburn Rural Studio whose innovative architectural creations are scattered throughout the county. Within easy driving distance are Tuscaloosa, Selma, and the neighboring historic towns of Demopolis, Eutaw, and Marion (the home of Judson College an Marion Military institute).
