| Mountain Grove is an historic bed and breakfast and retreat center available for customized gatherings and private getaways. The original mountain house was built in 1922 for the Stearns of Miami, whose name is still carved in the door step. Like many fellow wealthy Northerners, they wintered in Florida and purchased a second home in the mountains of Georgia to escape the Florida summers. The Stearns, however, decided to live year-round in the mountain area they loved so much.Today, Mountain Grove sits amid flower gardens, blueberry bushes, and cherry trees on three wooded acres. The house has been fully renovated with an eye for rustic luxury and comfort. The renovation, which took more than a year, uncovered heart-pine floors throughout the house. Bathrooms were added to the guest bedrooms, and spacious decks and balconies were constructed both upstairs and downstairs.
